Veuve Amiot

The story of our House truly begins in 1884.
Elisa Amiot, widowed for two years, decided to take her destiny into her own hands and founded her own sparkling wine house under the name Veuve Amiot.
A strong and ambitious woman, she set herself a challenge worthy of her high standards: to make her Saumur wines renowned sparkling wines known around the world. Surrounded by her sons and son-in-law, she quickly succeeded in her endeavor, and even today, the reputation of Veuve Amiot is international.
A woman of great character, she also had a strong social conscience. Very early on, she implemented numerous benefits for her employees and purchased land above our cellars to create workers' gardens.
Proud of this legacy, we planted vines there in 1988 and still produce Cuvée Élisa, the jewel of the House, to honor her memory.
Located just a stone’s throw from Saumur, our tuffeau stone cellars — the historic site where we craft our sparkling wines in Saumur and Crémant de Loire — are open year-round for guided tours. These tours immerse visitors in the heart of our working production site and reveal the secrets behind our sparkling wine creation.
